How do I get started at the gym again?
Getting started again can be tough. At this point, you may have already fallen into the routine of not working out. However, you know that you need a change and that is why you are asking this question.
Step 1 – Do your research
What kind of gym do you want to attend?
Do you want personal training?
Do you want group classes?
Do you want to train alone?
These are some of the questions you need to answer in order to figure out the best fit for you.
Step 2 – What type of program are you going to follow?
You have figured out what type of training environment you want to be apart of. Now you need to figure out how you are going to train.
Are you training for strength?
Do you want to lose weight?
Do you want to maintain your current weight and drop fat?
You need to figure out what you are training for and come up with a plan to do so!
Step 3 – Get Started
You know the gym and you know the program now get started. Start small! Make a commitment to go to the gym 2-3 times a week and not miss for a month straight.
Find someone to hold you accountable. This can be a coach, spouse, workout partner, coworker, or whoever will make sure you are not skimping out on the gym.
To get back into the gym after a break will be challenging. If you do your homework and come up with a plan you are already ahead of the game. The most important thing is to get started once you are ready to go.
